Hilton in the Community
Transcend has decided to support the work of Hilton Worldwide through their Hilton in the Community Foundation. We take our place alongside
Hilton's other corporate partners including British Airways, The Ability Group, Shiva Hotels, Acentic, and Ladbrokes.
Specifically we are offering to train mentors to support an inspirational 'into work' programme called Galvin's Chance that targets disadvantaged and
at risk young people aged 18-24 not in education or employment, and offers them training and opportunities for a front of house career in some of
the most prestigious hotels in London. This is the beginning of their involvement on a life changing programme that will ultimately provide them with
the confidence, aspiration and opportunity for a career in the hospitality industry.
In 2011-12 Galvin's Chance has so far had its most successful year to date, with 15 young people in paid employment and 7 enrolled in an
apprenticeship to gain an NVQ at Westminster Kingsway College. Hilton in the Community and its Galvin's Chance delivery partner The Springboard
Charity believe that a Mentoring Programme will aid the young people overcome particular challenges to see the programme/job through, and a
Mentor's skills and support could be vital to their success in the programme.
Transcend believes mentoring has real benefits for those who volunteer to mentor. Mentoring builds emotional intelligence which research shows is
a strong predictor of job performance; mentoring develops the capacity of managers and leaders to grow their team members, and motivate their
organization, and it grows leadership too. Research shows that developing an awareness of what drives and motivates you is an essential capacity
in successfully leading change.
Transcend Appointed
by HSBC Corporate and Structured Banking to support significant organisational change and prepare their leaders for it.
